American TV personality, activist, and producer Luigi "Shorty" Rossi was born on February 10, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. Nicknamed "Shorty" due to his height of 122 cm (approximately 4 feet), Rossi was born with dwarfism, a condition shared by both of his parents.
Rossi spent part of his childhood in the San Fernando Valley, one of Los Angeles' more affluent neighborhoods. However, after a falling out with his parents, he moved to the southern part of Los Angeles, where he lived with the family of a friend in a less privileged environment.
He attended Fremont High School and graduated in 1987. Shortly after, Rossi became involved with a local gang, which led him down a troubling path. His criminal activities eventually culminated in an armed altercation, for which he was convicted of multiple felonies. Rossi served 10 years and 10 months in Folsom State Prison as a result.
Following his release, Rossi faced the challenge of rebuilding his life. Leveraging his unique appearance and talent, he pursued a career in entertainment. He secured a role portraying Alvin in Universal Studios Hollywood's live-stage production of “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” This role marked his entry into the entertainment industry, followed by small parts in films such as Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Kid, the latter starring Bruce Willis.
Rossi's growing recognition led to appearances on various television shows including The Andy Dick Show (2001), The Beast (2001), Who Knows the Band (2001), The Nick Cannon Show (2002), and Passions (2002). His most prominent role came with the Animal Planet docudrama Pit Boss, which aired from January 2010 to March 2013. The series centered on the rescue and rehabilitation of pit bulls, a cause Rossi is deeply passionate about.
On Pit Boss, Rossi showcased the efforts of his organization, Shorty’s Rescue, which focuses on helping neglected and abused pit bulls. Beyond television, he has continued this advocacy work, often personally rescuing and training dogs in need. One notable incident involved him rescuing pit bulls from an abandoned property. Although this act raised legal concerns, the property owner later took full responsibility for abandoning the animals.
In addition to his animal rescue work, Rossi founded Shortywood Productions, a talent agency dedicated to helping little people secure opportunities in the entertainment industry. He has also been an outspoken activist for cigar rights and continues to be involved in various charitable initiatives.
As of recent estimates, Luigi Rossi has a net worth of approximately four million dollars. Despite his financial success and charitable nature, he has not publicly confirmed any romantic relationships. He has never been married, and rumors regarding his sexual orientation remain unsubstantiated and private.
Rossi is active on social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, where he shares updates about his life and ongoing pit bull rescue efforts. Numerous photographs and media appearances are publicly available online, reflecting his continued engagement with fans and the causes he supports.
