Born in Australia in September 30, 1963, Stan Grant has aboriginal origins related to the Wiradjuri tribe. The Wiradjuri tribe is from inner NSW, region and it is there where Grant spent his childhood years. He married Karla Grant and they had three children. They divorced in 2000 and he later started dating Tracey Holmes who is a TV personality he met during the Sydney Olympic Games. He married her soon thereafter.
Profession
Grant started his broadcasting career at Macquarie Radio Network. He later moved to ABC TV situated in Canberra as the Federal Political Correspondent and then New South Wales State as political correspondent. He also worked as correspondent at SBS News and Seven Network. He participated in the current affairs programs like 11AM, Real Life, Today Tonight, and Sunday Sunrise and Face to Face at Seven Network. He started working for CNN in the year 2000 and quit the network in 2007. Later he started working again with the network in the year 2009 and is at present reporting from the Beijing quarters of the network.
Notable Assignments
Grant has reported all the major new stories of the past twenty years like the unrest in Northern Ireland, the release of Nelson Mandela, the death of Princess Diana, Hong Kong handover, Middle East Conflict and the reaction of the Chinese government to the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize for the jailed dissident leader Liu Xiabo, and the crisis involving the spread of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. He has also reported on natural calamities like the 2004 Tsunami in South East Asian region and the earthquake in Pakistan.
Grant has been honored with several awards for his contribution to television journalism. He was bestowed with the Australian Television Logie Award in the year 1993 for the most popular current affairs show. The other awards he has received include the Asian Television Awards in the year 2002 for anchoring the show Newsbiz Today at CNN and also in the year 2006 for the best current affairs report and best current affairs presenter for covering the earthquake in Pakistan in his segment titled ‘Rising from the Ruins’. He returned to Australia in the year 2013 leaving CNN to serve as the International Editor at Sky News Australia. He is also reported to be working at NITV News.
