Biography
Vinita Chandra Nair was born on September 8, 1981 in Evanston, Illinois. The Indian American was raised by her family in Colleyville, Texas. She attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.
Journalism Career
Vinita launched her broadcasting career at WGEM-TV, a station based in Illinois. After her first job, she went on to work as a reporter and anchor at KWGN-TV located in Denver. She also had a station at the KOLN/KGIN-TV station in Nebraska. After graduating from college, Vinita noticed that she didn’t see many Indian-American journalists in television network news.
