Zac Brown is an American singer-songwriter, musician, co-founder, and leading vocalist of the Zac Brown Band, a country-rock band, and Sir Rosevelt, an electronic dance music group.
On July 31, 1978, Zac Brown was born in a small town right outside the northern portion of the Georgia Mountains and was the eleventh child in a family of twelve children. Zac's elder siblings' collection of records heavily influenced Zac's music, including hits from famous musicians such as Cat Stevens, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, and Buddy Guy.
Zac listened to almost every kind of music, ranging from pop, country, reggae, rock. His older brother, Wynn, used to play bluegrass songs on guitar and also played the banjo. His dad used to play folk music on the guitar during the family's campfires whereas, his mother used to sing. Zac Brown started singing and playing guitar at the young age of seven. He developed excellent fingerpicking skills, which helped him immensely when he switched to bluegrass and country-style music in his middle school days. By the time he reached high school, Zac knew he would be a professional musician due to the skill-set he had developed. Along with performing pop and country songs, Zac also started creating and performing his tunes.
Zac Brown did his initial schooling at Mashburn International School located near Cumming, in Georgia; a vocal coach tutored him for nearly a year. He shifted schools in between before finally moving out to Dahlonega in Georgia when he was seventeen. There Zac completed his education and graduated from Lumpkin County High School. At the age of nineteen, Zac began traveling throughout the southwest, accompanied by his drummer and dog, doing music gigs whenever he got the chance.
Zac Brown married the woman of his life, Shelly. He was in love with her ever since they kissed for the very first time. Zac and Shelly preferred keeping their personal lives to themselves and didn't talk about their relationship in the media. Zac is a father to five children: daughters, Lucy, Georgia, Justice, and Joni, and a son named Alexander. On October 6, 2018, People Magazine reported that Brown and his wife separated after twelve years of marriage. The couple released a joint statement announcing their split:
"We feel blessed to be on such an incredible journey in life, and sometimes the journey begins to lead in different directions. It is with deep love and respect that we announce we are separating as a couple. We have shown a whirlwind life together, growing into a beautiful family with five exceptional children, and while life will be rearranging a bit, our love and commitment to our family will always be there.
This was a difficult decision, but we've done plenty of tough things together, and this is our next venture — love, mutual respect, and care for each other are what we are moving forward with. Family comes in all different forms.
