Taking the back seat when his wife is so successful involves no shame at all for Helmut. Helmut doesn’t just hang back though, he also tries to contribute to the family name by producing huge projects for the ABC network. He is known for producing ABC's 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2003 which looked back at the channel’s long and storied history. He also produced the popular show, Dancing with the Stars in 2005. It can be speculated that Helmut built up most of his network from producing Dancing with the Stars. The program has been on air for almost a decade and has had millions of people tune in from around the world. Helmut also produced other prestigious programs like The 57th Annual Golden Globe Awards in the year 2000.
Battle with Disease
Huber Helmet went to his doctor for a routine physical examination about a decade ago and received unfortunate news. He was diagnosed with a heart disease called atrial fibrillation. The disease results in an irregular heart rate and palpitation. Helmet did not have signs of the common symptoms of the disease at the time of his initial diagnosis. Susan Lucci said in an interview "my husband Huber came to me at movie set and we were both shocked. My husband Helmut Huber has always been really healthy, active and athletic.” The unfortunate event showed that disease could strike anybody even the rich and healthy.
Philanthropy
After his battle with disease, Huber has made a strong move increase awareness among the American public about atrial fibrillation. He wants to encourage patients to empower and educate themselves by taking the necessary steps to decrease their risk of having a stroke.
