He was also part of the England squad in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup; the team reached the Super Eight stage but did not qualify for the semi-finals, finishing fifth overall.

Ian faced a setback in 2010 due to an injury that required medical attention and time away from the sport. Nevertheless, he returned to the international stage and represented England again in the 2011 World Cup, although the team did not secure the championship that year.
