Imani Hakim was born in the United States of America, State of Ohio, Cleveland in 1993. That would make her 23 at present time. Although she is an American citizen, her biography states that she is of African ethnicity. She grew up with in Cleveland with a single parent, her father, and five other brothers. Considering most individuals usually have a chartered career path by the time they graduate from high school, Imani Hakim had nurtured a genuine and unwavering passion for acting by the time she was seven, in elementary school. Her acting career took off when she enrolled in Karamu House Theater, a historic theatre school in Cleveland. She featured in numerous stage productions which helped horn her acting skills. She later moved to California where she attended and completed studies from Alexander Workshop School based in Lakewood. She also enrolled at the Young Actor’s Space school based in Burbank.
Career
Hakim made her first-ever television appearance in a commercial promoting McDonalds. The actress’s major breakthrough, however, happened in 2005 when she landed the role of playing ‘Tonya’ on the hit comedy series FOX’s Everybody Hates Chris when she was 11 years old.
After the series was discontinued by FOX, after very successful consecutive series, Hakim earned appearances in several series like E.R as well as Wizards of Waverly Place.
It was during this period that her outstanding acting talent landed her a debut role as a daughter to one of the people she came to look up to, Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler, in the movie Reign over Me. Hakim also was a cast in hit movies, One Angry Juror, The Hobbit, Cinderella, Chocolate City and most recently, The Gabby Douglas Story. At the present time, Hakim lives in Los Angeles.
