Introduction to Athletics
At the age of 10, Jamaal participated in the Special Olympics, an experience that marked a turning point in his life. The event revealed his natural athletic abilities, especially in running. Inspired by his performance, he began exploring multiple sports, including football, basketball, and track and field. While he was skilled across several disciplines, it was football where he truly excelled.
High School Football Career
Jamaal attended Memorial High School in Port Arthur, where he made a significant impact on the football field. In his junior year, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player after leading them to the quarterfinals of the 5A Division playoffs. He rushed for 2,051 yards and scored 25 touchdowns that season. His strong performance continued into his senior year, where he ran for 2,056 yards and again scored 25 touchdowns. Jamaal also competed in track and field, where he participated in events such as the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and 400-meter hurdles, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.
