James Faulkner

International Debut and Rise

James made his Twenty20 International debut in early 2012 at age 22, in a match against India. He continued to impress selectors and was included in Australia's squad for the 2013 tour of England. That same year, he cemented his place as a staple in Australia’s One Day International (ODI) side. During the Australia-India ODI series in 2013, Faulkner scored his maiden ODI century in Bengaluru, smashing a 57-ball hundred—the second-fastest by an Australian at that time.

Cricket World Cup and Major Performances

Faulkner played a crucial role in Australia’s successful 2015 Cricket World Cup campaign. In the final against New Zealand, his exceptional bowling performance earned him the Man of the Match award, contributing significantly to Australia's World Cup victory.

In 2016, during the second ODI against Sri Lanka, Faulkner achieved a hat-trick—a rare and impressive feat in limited-overs cricket. However, injuries started to become a recurring issue; he suffered from hamstring troubles during an ODI series against New Zealand and had previously exited a series against England due to side soreness in late 2015.

Domestic Leagues and Playing Style

In addition to international appearances, Faulkner played for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL). His performances across formats and his ability to finish games earned him the nickname “The Finisher.” His bowling speed and consistency have made him one of the more prominent figures in Australia's cricketing setup.
