Jidenna Theodore Mobisson is a Nigerian-American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer who goes is also known by his stage name "Jidenna". Jidenna was born on May 4, 1985, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to his parents Tama Mobisson and Oliver Mobisson. He spent the first six years in Nigeria before moving to America with his family. When Jidenna was in high school he became a co-founder of a rap group known as Black Spadez.
From a young age, he began producing and writing music of his own. He released his first album with the Black Spadez as a school project at Milton Academy where he graduated in 2003. He eventually pursued a degree in sound engineering at Sanford University before switching majors to "ritualistic arts". Jidenna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Standford University in 2008. In 2010, his father passed away but he did not let that stop him from pursuing his passion. He has been producing music and managing new artists ever since. Jidenna credits his style to his major influences including KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane. He claims he developed his personal singing style in college and learned about fashion and psychology from a professor.
