John Caparulo

John Caparulo is an American stand-up comedian known for his straightforward humor and laid-back delivery. Born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio, Caparulo is often affectionately referred to as "Cap" by friends and fans. He graduated from Kent State University in 1998. Before gaining national attention, Caparulo spent time honing his craft while working as a doorman at the Comedy Store in Hollywood, and later as a golf course groundskeeper.

Stand-Up Comedy Roots and Breakthrough

Caparulo's stand-up career began in the late 1990s, not in 1977 as previously stated. His early performances across Ohio led him to larger stages, including a featured spot at the 2003 Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. His appearance there earned industry attention, opening up opportunities for national television and touring.

Television Appearances and Comedy Specials

One of Caparulo's most recognized contributions came from his regular panelist role on Chelsea Lately, a late-night talk show on E! hosted by Chelsea Handler. His TV credentials also include appearances on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He also appeared in Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Tour, showcasing his style to a broader audience.

Caparulo released a Comedy Central special titled John Caparulo: Meet Cap, which was well-received. In 2013, he followed this up with his second comedy album, Come Inside Me, which premiered on Netflix and was later made available on CD and DVD.

The Mad Cap Hour and Other Media Ventures

Caparulo, along with his wife Jamie Caparulo and comedian Mark Ellis, co-hosted The Mad Cap Hour, a radio show available on Sirius XM and iTunes. Additionally, he provided the voice for the character Headphone in the animated Disney series Fish Hooks.

He also hosted the comedic home renovation show Mobile Home Disaster and contributed to CMT’s Ron White's Salute to the Troops. Caparulo has embraced digital platforms by launching a unique project called "Caplets"—monthly stand-up comedy segments released via his website and Hulu, aligning with contemporary trends in the comedy and media landscape.
