She was born in 1965 and American by birth. Kathleen A. “Kathy” Orr, popular as Kathy Orr, completed her schooling in New York and graduated from Syracuse University. From her childhood days, she is interested in journalism. After completing her graduation in mass journalism, she learnt the basics in metrology and acquired certification from AMS as Broadcast Meteorologist.

Though she enjoys huge popularity all over the USA, she doesn’t like to face camera outside the news studio. She always maintains low profile off screen and never shared anything about her husband and children. She had never been in news for wrong reasons and the outside world knows very less about her personal life. She is a bit obese during the initial days of her career but followed different weight loss methods to look attractive on screen.

Career

Her career journey took a big leap after she started working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and she worked as a chief meteorologist there. As a part of CBS 3 Weather team (KYW-TV), she used to host weather reports three times a day daily. Previously, she rejected the chief meteorologist position in WCAU-TV as she was offered better salary at KYW-TV. Before joining CBS-3’s weather team at KYW-TV, she was worked as weekend weather reporter in WCAU-TV. “CBS-3 Kidcasters” where kids are allowed to co-host the weather report along with Kathy Orr became very successful.

From 2011, she wanted to spend more time with her family and reduced the workload considerably. She hosted only 10 p.m. weather report and CBS-3’s 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. weather reports were handled by other meteorologists. But during severe snow storms and other adverse weather conditions, she is the one who took the lead of weather reporting team because of her reliability. However, from September 2013, she continued the afternoon weather reports and also hosted 5p.m., 6p.m., 10p.m. and 11p.m. weather reports.

The completion among meteorologists is very high because of limited number of vacancies. There were rumors that Kathy Orr was removed from CBS-3’s weather forecasts. Kathy Orr didn’t comment on it but was remained jobless for two months. In September 2015, Fox 29 announced that Kathy Orr will be joining for weekdays weather forecasts and she also confirmed it.

Popularity

Her weather reports are believed to be reliable and she enjoys good reputation among news viewers. On social networking platforms, her fan following is limited but during the times of natural hazards like storms, hurricanes, floods etc., her opinions and forecasts are shared heavily which proves her reliability. She is active on Facebook and Twitter but doesn’t have any dedicated website and active accounts on other social networking platforms. She surely receives hefty paychecks as salary because of her reliability and knowledge. Her net worth stands close to twenty million dollars and her bio proves that one can become rich by choosing the career of their choice.
