Who knows what might have happened to her, if she wasn’t noticed by the “Elite” modeling agency in the high school. All in all, after the graduation she moved to New York to learn acting art with William Esper. Meanwhile, she was working as a model to pay off her housing expenses.

When Kim was twenty, producers found offered her a role of innocent teenager Jenny on the TV series "All My Children". Soon, she had to come back to acting to get some extra money after the divorce with Mr. Cortese, but unfortunately films that she was taking part in were of a really low quality as for the opinion of the critics, viewers and an actress herself.

Fortunately, she got the appealing invitation to film “The Force” in the 1994. The following year, Kim Delaney began portraying the role of Detective Diane Russell in “NYPD Blue”. She wasn’t supposed to stay there for a long time, but eventually, viewers enjoyed her character’s romance with the Detective Bobby Simon. For this role Kim was awarded her first Emmy Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. After work on NYPD, Delaney was chosen for the lead role in the new TV series “Philly”. Kim was engaged to the producer Alan Barnette from 1997, but after numerous arguments their engagement fell apart in 2007.
