She has a younger sister named Gretchen, a brother named Austin, and a stepbrother named Chris. From a young age, Kristen expressed her ambition to become an actress, specifically stating at age five her desire to appear on a soap opera. Her parents supported her by enrolling her in acting lessons and sending her to an intensive children’s acting camp in the Catskills, New York.
Kristen began her acting career in 1989 with a commercial for "Galoob Baby Doll." Her early television experience included a role in the ABC series Second Noah in 1996.
