Career Beginnings and Debut Album

Before achieving national recognition, Bridges worked at Del Frisco’s Grille in Fort Worth, where he would occasionally perform his songs for restaurant patrons. His big break came in December 2014 when he signed with Columbia Records. The following summer, he released his debut studio album, Coming Home, which features standout tracks such as “River,” “Better Man,” and “Lisa Sawyer.” Produced with a vintage soul aesthetic, the album garnered critical acclaim and was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.

Bridges is also known for his vintage-inspired fashion sense, often performing in clothing styles reminiscent of the 1960s, reinforcing the nostalgic tone of his music. His national visibility expanded in December 2015 when he performed “Smooth Sailin’” and “River” as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
