Early Life and Youth Career

Leonardo Bonucci was born in 1987 in Viterbo, Italy. He began his football journey with Viterbese, a club based in his hometown. In the summer of 2005, he joined Inter Milan on loan and featured in several pre-season friendlies for the first team. Later that year, he became part of Inter’s Primavera (youth) squad. Bonucci made his Serie A debut during the 2005–2006 season in a match against Cagliari. Toward the end of that season, he officially joined Inter Milan.

Professional Club Career and Rise at Juventus

Following his time with Inter, Bonucci spent the next few seasons on loan spells at Treviso and Pisa to gain first-team experience. In 2009, he transferred to Bari, where his performances, especially his ball-playing ability and solid defensive displays alongside Andrea Ranocchia, garnered attention.

Impressed by his development, Juventus signed Bonucci ahead of the 2010–2011 season. At Juventus, he became a core member of the club’s iconic three-man defensive line alongside Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini. His tactical intelligence, positioning, and ability to distribute long-range passes made him a critical part of Juventus's backline.

While at Juventus, Bonucci played a significant role in the team’s domestic dominance, winning five consecutive Serie A titles from 2011–12 through 2015–16. He was also instrumental in the club’s remarkable defensive consistency during that period.

International Career with Italy

Bonucci has had a storied international career with the Italian national team. He represented Italy in two FIFA World Cups (2010 and 2014) and participated in multiple UEFA European Championships, including Euro 2012 and Euro 2016. He was part of the Italian squad that finished as runners-up at Euro 2012 and secured third place at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
