Matt Forte

Matt Garrett Forte is a successful American National Football League (NFL) player. Matt Forte serves as a running back for the New York Jets. Prior to New York Jets, he had a successful career at Chicago Bears. Since Walter Payton, he has been considered as the greatest running back for the Chicago Bears. As of 2016, he has an estimated net worth of $13 million.

Early life

Matt Forte was born on December 10th 1985 in Slidell Louisiana. He attended Slidell high school. During his junior season, he ran for a total of 1,057 yards and with 8 TDs. At the end of his senior year, he ran for 1,375 yards with 31 TDs. He was awarded the Saint Tammany Parish player of the year. Forte was also an excellent sprinter with a personal best record of 10.68 seconds in 100 metres.

Matt enrolled at the Tulane University situated in New Orleans, Louisiana. He pursued degree in finance. He was forced to miss the matches in his junior year due to an injury against Marshall University. He set the Tulane University record with 2,127 running yards and 23 touchdowns. He was awarded the Overall MVP player of the year for his performance in 2008 Senior Bowl. He ran a total of 59 yards with 9 carries at the Bowl.

NFL career

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round in 2008 NFL draft. He was the second person in the history of Chicago Bears to run over 1,000 yards in the Rookie season since Anthony Thomas. In 2011, Forte ran for the career high 205 yards against Carolina Panthers. In a match against the Eagles, Forte along with Herschel Walker was the only player to run 700 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards in the first four seasons. He was selected to the NFC squad to play in the 2012 pro bowl. In 2013, Forte created yet another record by ranking 3rd in the all-time leading rushers with 5,702 yards. He surpassed Neal Anderson to take the second place in terms of rushing yards for the Bears franchise. In the 2014 season, Forte crossed 1,000 rushing yards for the third successful season. In 2014 he also broke the previous record of Larry Centers for most receptions by a running back with 102 receptions. In 2015, Forte’s stats were 898 rushing yards with four touchdowns.

It was announced on February 12th 2016 that Bears were not going to resign Forte. Bears’ general manager Ryan Pace praised the contributions of Forte for the Bears by saying ‘Matt is one of the all-time great Bears and did an excellent job for us on and off the field last season.’

Forte signed a three year contract with the New York Jets for $12 million on March 9th 2016.

Personal life

Forte is married to Danielle Daniels. The couples got married in August 2011. The couple have two beautiful children, a son named Mathew and a daughter named Nala. He resides with his family in Mettawa, Illinois. Forte and his wife are devoted Christian who attend weekly bible studies. He enjoys playing video games especially call of duty modern warfare and Halo 3. He is very much active on social media, especially on twitter. He posted the photo of his Daughter by holding her like a football.
