Maya was born on the June of 1989, in Jefferson City, Missouri, USA and was raised all by her mother. She didn’t meet her father but often heard how good a player he used to be. When she was 3 years of age, her mother hung a basketball ring in the back door of her house, and it was since then that she started to play the ball. She also became the first player to score a 1000 points in fewer games in the Universities’ history and only the second to win the AP Player of the year title as a junior. With her individual and team success continuing though her junior year, she carried the same legacy as a senior, and was named as the “Most Outstanding Player of the Philadelphia Region.” After the end of regular seasons, she was named for the Big EAST All-First team, and was titled as Big East Player of the Year.
