Melissa Magee is an American meteorologist who works for 6 ABC Action News, WPVI-TV, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Although Melissa was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, her work has often taken her away from the warm and pleasant weather of that state. Early in her career, Melissa spent a year at KDUH-TV in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where the average low temperature in the winter months falls into the teens. While at KDUH-TV, Melissa was required to write, shoot, produce, and edit all her own on-air material. Melissa graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a bachelor’s of art degree in English with a minor in French.
Melissa also spent a summer abroad studying in Paris and became fluent in French. In 2010, Melissa attended Mississippi State University’s atmospheric sciences classes so that she could become a certified broadcast meteorologist. Melissa has previously worked at WNYW-TV in New York, where she not only presented the weather, but also served as a feature reporter. She also worked at AccuWeather in State College, Pennsylvania, providing international, national, and regional forecasts. Her first job was in her home state of California at Bakersfield’s KBAK-TV, where she worked as a weekend anchor/weather personality, before being promoted to Noon Anchor.
