Nancy Cox is known as an American journalist and news anchor. She is most famous for her work at WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky.
Nancy Cox was born on August 23, 1967. She attended Campbellsville University and Western Kentucky University in the city of Bowling Green.
She has a brother named Ricky Lee Cox and a niece named Emily Cox. In 1990, she won the title of Miss Kentucky and participated in the 1991 Miss America Pagent.
Nancy Cox is married to Tom Kenny, an anchor for WTVQ-DT. They got married on December 15, 1996. The couple has two children, a son and a daughter.
In 2008, WTVQ-36 named Tom Kenny and Megan Skaggs as its night anchor group and WLEX-18 employed a Milwaukee anchor and journalist to join Dia Davidson in the mornings. The rise of Kenny and Skaggs is one more in a series of moves by WTVQ after its buy by Georgia-based Morris Multimedia.
"I've generally been a major fan of Tom Kenny's," said WTVQ General Manager Chris Aldridge. "What's more, I think Tom and Megan look incredible together. He brings a great deal of validity and development to the anchor work area, and I think she balances with her childhood and balance and character."
Kenny has been with the station for a long time yet has been in the Lexington TV showcase for over two decades, fundamentally at WLEX where he once co-anchored the nightly news with his significant other, Nancy Cox.
He had anchored WTVQ's morning news with Kristi Runyon, who alongside Skaggs, was one of a few choices for the female anchor work. The openings came after WTVQ chose not to renew anchor Don Hudson's contract. His last day was Oct. 27. The plans were for Kenny to broadcast solo until he and Skaggs make the Oct. 30 presentation.
Aldridge said the station would make more set changes in the following week that would address the eventual fate of the morning group. In spite of the fact that it had been Kenny's role, he had been anchoring early afternoon broadcasts after coming back from a June knee medical procedure. He had proposed to be out just half a month yet was determined after the medical procedure to have a bacterial infection.
Filling in for him in the mornings was the former end of the week co-anchor Chris Dietz. Aldridge said WTVQ planned to enlist a columnist to fill Skaggs' former role. Lexington neighborhood news pioneer WLEX-18 recruited Chris Goodman, an end of the week anchor at Fox member in Milwaukee, to join Dia Davidson in the mornings. Davidson has anchored WLEX's morning and early afternoon newscasts alone for quite a long while.
Nancy Cox was awarded an Emmy Award for news anchoring from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Since then, she has won three more Emmy Awards. In 2015, she was nominated for Best TV News Anchor by the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcast Awards.
