Nina Kouprianova is a Russian political analyst, photographer, and translator who was born on October 19, 1988, in Moscow, Russia. She moved to Canada with her family at a young age where her father took a job as a scientist. Kouprianova can speak both Russian and English and growing up spent much of her time doing photography. She attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary Russian Culture and American Foreign Policy. In 2009, Kouprianova met American political activist Richard B. Spencer who has been credited with being instrumental in the start of the Alt-Right movement. After dating for a year, the couple got married in 2010 and four years later had a daughter. They separated in 2016 but reconciled their relationship in 2017 to focus on their newfound parenthood.
They went on to have a second child but in October of 2018, Kouprianova filed for divorce from Spencer alleging physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. Spencer tweeted on October 24, 2018, "Nina Kouprianova and I have known each other for close to ten years, and we have been married for over eight. We have brought two wonderful children into the world, something of which we are both immensely proud". Spencer made no mention of the divorce filings and the pair have yet to finalize the divorce.
