Pat Symcox was born on 14 april 1960 in Northern cape, South africa. He was born to a middle-class family and his father worked at factory while his mother was a homemaker. His parents were of South African nationality. He has two siblings and he was the oldest of them all. He started to play cricket at a very young age. He was selected in his school team for his batting and bowling skills. His height was the tallest in his class and that helped his selection as well.
He also played football but he chose cricket as his career path. He did his schooling from a nearby high school where he played in the school league and took his team to victory on many occasions. He was later chosen by the under 17 cricket team that went on a tour to England. There he won the series that garnered him fame in the cricketing fraternity for his balling and fast batting at the later stages of a match.
He however didn't goes straight to cricket as at first, he started off by working at a hospital. He worked as a manager for a private hospital in his home town. He wanted to play cricket but didn't see it as a career option to earn a living so he ended up being a manager and small scale agent. He left the hospital and later started as an agent for models as well as cricketers. It was at this point in time that he realized he could be a cricket as well. He started to play in the domestic league with a domestic team and started to perform very well. After few good performances he caught the eye of selectors and was included in the south african national team. This was a dream come true for him and he was overjoyed with happiness. He started off his career very well having done impressively in the domestic cricket.
He gave some memorable performances in the international cricket when he scored a century coming at number 9 when the team needed runs. His partnership of 195 runs coming at number nine which is the most scored by any two players. In one ODI he was booed by the fans and even pelted with stones for his performance against Australia. He was even pelted with a chicken which made it one of the disgusting moments of the international career.
He played 80 ODI and 20 test matches for eh south african team before retiring from the international cricket. After retirement, he started his business by creating a franchise called REMAX which deals with the selling and buying of properties. Later his son Russell also played for the South african team which made the Symcox family one of few families that have three generations played in the first class cricket which is a very big feat to achieve. He did his wedding to his long time girlfriend and has two children with his wife. His net worth is estimated to be around $20 million.
