Career

Brownstein is proud to be Atlantic Media's Editorial Director for Strategic Partnerships. He is in charge and accountable for the long term strategy of the editing staff. He composes a weekly show segment and normally contributes different pieces for the National Journal, adds to Quartz, and The Atlantic, and leads political coverage and events across platforms owned by Atlantic Media.

Before joining Atlantic Media, Brownstein was the National Affairs Columnist for the Los Angeles Times. He has additionally filled in as the Times' national political journalist and the author of the weekly Washington Outlook section of the paper.

Brownstein is a National Journal graduate, having filled in as the magazine's White House and National Politics Correspondent from 1983 to 1986, and after that as its West Coast Correspondent through 1989.

Currently, Ron fills in as a senior political analyst for CNN and also filled in as an electoral examiner for ABC News during the 2012 campaign race. He also filled in as a political expert for CNN from 1998 through 2004 which gave him invaluable experience.
