Sasha Banks is an American professional wrestler who was born on January 26, 1992, in Fairfield, California. Her real name is Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado but she goes by her WWE ring name Sasha Banks. She moved a lot as a child as her family tried to find schools and hospitals for her disabled brother. Her family eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts which is where she began her career in professional wrestling. Since her family moved so much, Banks did her schooling online. She got her start wrestling on the independent circuit including for Chaotic Wrestling where she once achieved the Chaotic Wrestling Women's Championship. Banks is a first cousin of Hip-Hop artist Snoop Dogg who had a hand in helping her develop her wrestling persona.
She is also related to music producer Daz Dillinger and singers Brandy Norwood and Ray J. Banks has said she is a fan of K-pop music and Japanese anime shows such as "Sailor Moon". Banks married WWE costume designer and retired professional wrestler Sarath Ton on August 4, 2016. Her husband's ring name was Kid Mikaze. Banks cites Eddie Guerrero as her favorite wrestler and she even attended his memorial episode of Raw on November 14, 2005.
