Spencer Christian is an American television broadcaster who is best known for being the weather forecaster for ABC’s Good Morning America from 1986 to 1998. Spencer Christian was born on July 23, 1947, in Newport News, Virginia. Spencer received his bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism from Hampton University, a private and historically black university in Hampton, Virginia. Spencer Christian’s broadcast career started at WWBT in Richmond, where he worked as a news reporter covering state and local politics. He was hired by WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1975, to be their weatherman.

Christian was well received because of his quick wit and his willingness to appear at local charitable events throughout the community. Christian moved to New York City’s WABC-TV in 1977, working as a weatherman and sportscaster for Eyewitness News from 1977-1986; he joined Good Morning America in 1986. Christian is co-author of several children’s books including Can It Really Rain Frogs: The World’s Strangest Weather Events, Is There a Dinosaur in Your Backyard: The World’s Most Fascinating Fossils, Rocks, and Minerals, and What Makes the Grand Canyon Grand?: The World’s Most Awe-Inspiring Natural Wonders. Currently, Spencer Christian works as a weather forecaster at KGO-TV in San Francisco, California.
