Sutan Amrull is an American makeup artist and drag performer who is best known for his work on the reality television series America’s Next Top Model. Sutan Amrull was born on June 14, 1974, in Baldwin Park, California; he lived in Indonesia from the ages of three to nine. Sutan Amrull, who is known by the stage name Raja (or sometimes Raja Gemini), was introduced to the drag scene at the age of sixteen via Los Angeles nightclubs. Sutan studied art at college, but dropped out after two years to pursue his career in makeup artistry and female impersonation. When Sutan speaks of his education, he has been known to remark that he has a master’s degree in “fierce”. Sutan Amrull has developed a list of celebrity clients that has been known to include Pamela Anderson, Paulina Porizkova, Iman, Tyra Banks, RuPaul, and Adam Lambert.
At six feet three inches tall, Raja Gemini made for an imposing contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, an American reality television competition series that searches for America’s “next drag superstar”. Indeed, Raja Gemini was declared the season three winner of the RuPaul show and after defeating Maila Luzon in a lip-sync showdown. In May of 2011, Raja Gemini released the single Diamond Crowned Queen, which peaked at number thirty-five on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs.
