T.J. Holmes, born on August 19, 1977, in West Memphis, Arkansas, is an American journalist, television personality, and national news correspondent. He is the younger of two siblings. Holmes earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Arkansas, laying the foundation for his successful media career.
Holmes began his broadcasting career at KSNF Channel 16 in Joplin, Missouri. He took the initiative to hand-deliver his resume to the station and was hired shortly thereafter. He worked as a producer, reporter, and weekend anchor during his time there. Within a year, Holmes returned to Arkansas to join the CBS affiliate KTHV in Little Rock as a reporter. He was later promoted to weekend anchor, bolstering his on-screen experience.
In 2003, Holmes moved to KNTV in San Francisco, California, where he further enhanced his reporting credentials. During his tenure at KNTV, he covered stories from around the globe, including the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens—the first Olympic Games held after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. His international reporting contributed significantly to his rising profile in journalism.
Holmes joined CNN in October 2006 as a news anchor and correspondent. He co-anchored the weekend edition of CNN Saturday & Sunday Morning alongside Betty Nguyen. His credibility and comfort on screen made him a recognizable face in national news broadcasting. In 2010, Holmes left CNN and transitioned to CBS News, where he contributed as an anchor and correspondent.
