She is a prominent American actress best known for her portrayal of Piper Chapman in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Her mother, Patricia Schilling, works as an administrator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), while her father, Robert J. Schilling, is a former prosecutor. Following her parents' divorce, Schilling spent time living alternately with her mother in West Roxbury and her father in Wayland, Massachusetts.

In addition to her film work, Schilling has appeared in several television shows. She has been active in the entertainment industry since 2007.

Education and Early Acting Pursuits

Schilling attended Wayland High School, graduating in 2002. She then enrolled at Fordham University in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006.
