Teryl Rothery was born on November 9, 1962 in Vancouver, Canada. Her parents are both from Canada and her family had a rich heritage in the country. She went to a nearby school for the completion of her high school education. She was inclined towards acting from a very young age, often playing roles in high school stage shows and at friends parties. She also acted in marketing advertisements from time to time. She performed in a musical called Bye Bye Birdie in 1976 when she was just 13 years old.
Teryl Rothery attended and performed in many events gaining experience and skill while growing up. In 1986, she played the role of Eiko "A-ko" which was a parody film of a Japanese film. This comedy film got the viewers to notice her acting and singing skills. A year later, she provided the voice for a Japanese manga series called Ranma 1/2 in which she played the role of kodachi Kuno.
In the meantime, she continued learning and attending different stage shows to improve her art. Her first big on-screen break came in 1997 when she was cast as Janet Fraiser in the sci-fi TV series, Stargate SG-1. This show was very popular in Canada and neighboring countries, USA and Mexico. This show is to date considered as the pioneer of sci-fi TV shows in Canada. She became a household name after she joined Stargate. Besides that, she has also appeared in a number of other sci-fi shows such as The X-Files, The Outer Limits, and Eureka. In 1994, she appeared in the movie, For The Love of Nancy.
She was cast as the mother of William Adama in the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica. Her vast experience gets her very much respect from people from the industry as well as the viewers. In 2011, she was cast as Mrs. Turner in the movie A Fairly Odd Movie : Grow Up. She then joined the cast of the TV series Cedar Love. Apart from the screen, she has also been a part of theater appearing in a number of shows such as Kiss Me, The Taming of the Shrew and Kate.
Teryl has had an illustrious career and she has won many awards throughout. She has been nominated for the Leo Awards four times in two categories in 2004. She was also nominated for the best supporting performance by a female for her role in The Guard.
