Travis Kalanick was born on August 6, 1976 in Los Angeles, California. He is famous for being an American billionaire businessman who is at the forefront of technology but he is most known for starting Uber, the car sharing application. He co-founded the company known as Scour which is a peer to peer file sharing application that has helped many companies conduct business. He also created a peer-to-peer content delivery network known as Red Swoosh but in 2007, he sold it to Akamai Technologies.
In 2009, Travis started Uber but in 2017, he had to step down as CEO after the scandals involving the company were too much for shareholders to be comfortable with. Travis did not let the failure of Uber stop him, he decided to start a new venture fund called 10100 in 2018. The fund combines his nonprofit and for-profit investments in a merged portfolio. He does not want Uber to be his lasting legacy.
