Early Life and Education

Wentworth Earl Miller III was born on June 2, 1972, in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, to father Wentworth E. Miller II and mother Roxann. He spent most of his childhood in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. Of both African-American and white heritage, Miller has frequently spoken about his biracial identity. He has two younger sisters, Gillian and Leigh.

Miller initially attended Midwood High School in Brooklyn before transferring to Quaker Valley High School in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He later enrolled at Princeton University, where he graduated in 1995 with a degree in English Literature. During his time at Princeton, he was active in extracurricular activities, including performing with the university's a cappella group, The Princeton Tigertones, and contributing as a cartoonist for the student newspaper.

Acting Career and Breakthrough

Following graduation, Miller moved to California and found work with a company that produced television movies. Pursuing his passion for acting, he made his professional debut in 1998 with a guest role as Gage Petronzi in the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Miller rose to prominence in 2005 with his lead role as Michael Scofield in the FOX television series Prison Break. The critically acclaimed show significantly boosted his profile and earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He later expanded his TV career by portraying Leonard Snart, also known as Captain Cold, in both The Flash (2014) and Legends of Tomorrow (2016), contributing to his popularity in the superhero genre.

Television Roles and Appearances

In addition to his major roles, Miller has appeared in several other television shows. His credits include Nelson in Time of Your Life (1999), Mike Palmieri in ER (2000), David Scott in Dinotopia (2002), Ryan Hunter in Joan of Arcadia (2005), Sgt. Paul Adams in Ghost Whisperer (2005), Detective Nate Kendall in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2009), Benjamin Byrd in House (2011), and a voice role as Slade Wilson in the animated series Young Justice (2013).
