Yancy Butler is an American actress who was born on July 2, 1970, in Greenwich Village, New York City, New York, in the United States. She grew up in Manhattan with her parents Leslie Vega and Joe Butler. She made her acting debut in the television series "Mann & Machine" in 1992. Her next role would be in the series "South Beach" where she played a con artist working for the federal government to get out of trouble. Butler went on to make her film debut in the 1979 slasher film "Savage Weekend". She also appeared in the 1993 John Woo film "Hard Target" followed by "Dropzone" in 1994, and "Let It Be Me" in 1995. In 2000, Butler landed the starring role in the made-for-television movie "Witchblade". The film was adapted into a television series which Butler starred in as well.
In 2005, Butler appeared in the film "Bloodlines" followed by "Striking Range" in 2006. In 2007, she was cast as Ava Jenkins in 13 episodes of the soap opera "As the World Turns". Butler has been arrested for disorderly intoxication and was court ordered to a treatment program. In 2007, she was charged with DUI after crashing her car. Ten years later, she found herself in trouble with the law again when she was discovered passed out behind the wheel.
