Zach Williams is an American contemporary Christian rock singer, songwriter, and the winner of the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. The winning album, entitled Chain Breaker, was Zach Williams’ debut album and featured the single Chain Breaker which remained as number one on the Hot Christian Songs list for nine weeks. Williams co-wrote the song with Jonathan Smith and Mia Feldes. The official video for the song was released on October 24, 2016. Zach Stephen Williams was born on March 5, 1981, in Pensacola, Florida; he grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Zach Williams’s songs are pulled directly from his life experiences; Chain Breaker reflects his journey away from and back to faith. Williams second single, Old Church Choir, held the number one position on Billboard’s Christian Airplay Chart for twenty weeks.
Williams EP, released in 2018, was filmed and recorded during a live performance for the inmates of Tennessee’s Harding Prison. The EP is entitled, Survivor: Live from Harding Prison, and has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Album of 2019. Zach Williams is married; he and his wife Crystal have four children and continue to immerse themselves in the life of their church.
