Born in May 5, 1959 in Elmira, New York, Brian Williams was raised in Middletown, New Jersey. Williams studied at the George Washington University and at the Catholic University of America situated in Washington D.C. He is married to Jane Gillan Williams. They married in the year 1986. They have two children Douglas Williams and Allison Williams. They reside in New Canaan, Connecticut at present.

Profession

Brian Williams started his career in Pittsburgh, Kansas and later joined WCBS-TV situated in New York City. He later joined NBC News and then became the White House Correspondent at CNBC. He then joined MSNBC as anchor and later became the managing editor of the show ‘NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams’. He joined the show in the year 2004. The flagship show of the network was earlier done with Tom Brokaw till Williams replaced him.

Assignments

He has covered natural disasters including the Asian Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina, which he covered from the Superdome in New Orleans.  Williams also is a regular guest on The Daily Show, interviewed by Jon Stewart. He has also appeared on the Saturday Night Live show and the Late Night show with Jimmy Fallon and with Conan O’ Brien and David Letterman on Late Show at CBS. Williams also appeared as guest on the NBC comedy 30 Rock featured in a caricatured version. He has also been cast on Sesame Street in the year 2007 and 2008. He also appeared as host of the 2009 Annual Sesame Workshop Benefit event.

Awards

Brian Williams has received many awards and recognition during his career including eleven Edward R. Murrow Awards, a DuPont – Columbia University award, Twelve Emmy Awards, George Foster Peabody Award, and the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. He was also named as one of the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine.

Williams is a great fan of NASCAR both at the national and local level. He was the studio host of the first telecast of NASCAR show on NBC in 1999. He is also a fan of New York Giants NFL franchise. Brian Williams has also received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree bestowed upon him by the Bates College in 2005.
