Education

Oosterhouse went to school at the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. He was a very brilliant student and he successfully finished his studies and later on went on to attend the Central Michigan University. At University, Oosterhouse undertook studies in Bachelor of Arts, nutrition and communication.

Apart from the formal education, Oosterhouse also underwent informal education in carpentry from his neighbor, who was a professional carpenter. He was passionate about learning the work that even at the age of 12, he was already learning.

Career

Oosterhouse  started earning a living out of carpentry. While still attending his classes, he would work under his neighbor as a carpenter. He was largely encouraged by his two elder brothers, older brothers, Todd and Tyler, who are also carpenters.

Immediately after completing university studies, Carter Oosterhouse moved out to Los Angeles in U.S.A in pursuit of his career in the  film and television industry. He was not too unlucky as he got a job with Project Greenlight, where he was employed to work as a production assistant as well as a tape coordinator behind the scenes.

Oosterhouse kept his zeal on and he later on got a job on the famous TLC show called Trading Spaces. He was successful in the auditions and he could not be happier to join the team in their fourth season in the year 2003.

TLC started another spin-off called Trading Spaces: Family and Trading Spaces: Boys V. Girls to their major TV programs, and Carter was offered a great chance to work with children.

Oosterhouse continued to shine to the world in his career, and he landed a job with CBS in 2004. He did an episode of their CBS Sunday Morning in New York. With his creative mind, Oosterhouse even renovated Bill Geist’s office with the help of Andy Rooney, a renowned commentator.

His career kept on climbing the ladder and in the year 2005, Oosterhouse became a contributor to NBC's show called Three Wishes. The series made him work with Amy Grant, and it involved them visiting  small towns from corner to corner in America, in order to be of assistance in making their wishes come true.

Oosterhouse has done really well in his career such that he was even featured  as an expert for a number of TV programs such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, Rachael Ray, Extra ,The Today Show, The CBS Early Show,  The View and Entertainment Tonight. He has his own shows including Carter Can, The Inside Job and Red Hot & Green.

He hosts Million Dollar Rooms show on HGTV network. As a model, Oosterhouse has appeared on many TV commercials and as faces for brands for several companies including Gillette, Nautica, Nivea and many others.

Besides all these careers, Oosterhouse  is a businessman and he owns a wine company called Bonobo winery together with his brother Todd.

Personal life

This handsome and successful man is married to Amy Smart, an actress. They had their wedding on 10th September 2011 and are still together.

Oosterhouse has a big heart and is a philanthropist. He is the founder of Carter’s Kids, a non-profit organization which mainly  is dedicated to increasing activity level of children. They usually  build and develop community parks and playgrounds in the kid’s neighborhoods.

His net worth is approximately $2 million dollars.
