Don Lemon

Don Lemon is an American journalist and television news reporter. He is most famous for hosting his program, CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. Lemon was born on March 1, 1966, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Baker High School in East Baton Rouge Parish. Lemon's mother is Katherine Clark, and he has two sisters named Leisa and Yma. His mother and grandmother raised him. In 1976, when Lemon was ten, his mother married his stepfather. In an interview, Lemon revealed that he had been sexually abused when he was young and waited nearly thirty years before telling his mother about it. In his book Transparent, Lemon announced that he is gay and talked about homophobia, colorism, and the sexual abuse he suffered when he was still young. He was inspired to be a television presenter by Max Robinson. Because of his interest in journalism, Lemon majored in Broadcast Journalism at Brooklyn College and then went to Louisiana State University to complete his studies.

Relationships

In his book, Transparent, Don discussed how he was treated in his early days due to the homophobia and hopelessness he experienced when he did not set out to confront his mother with his sexual reality. Eventually, he had the psychological courage to come out to his family about his sexuality.

In 2017, the media had presumed that Don Lemon was dating Tim Malone, a business executive, and the pair was seen together holding hands in public. The anchor is now married to his partner John Byrne, who is a choreographer.

Career

Don Lemon started his career while attending Brooklyn College, working as a news assistant for WNYW in New York City. Early in his career, he worked for WCAU in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor, WBRC in Birmingham, Alabama, as a weekend anchor, and KTVI in St. Louis, Missouri, as an investigative reporter and anchor. He reported for NBC News as a co-anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast at the New York City Operations, and this included being a correspondent on the "Today" show and on the NBC Nightly News.

He has been an anchor on the Weekend Today on MSNBC. He is most famous for his news reporting on CNN. He currently works in the CNN newsroom, based in New York City. Lemon has reported on many breaking news stories, including the Orlando shooting at Pulse nightclub (2016), the Charleston church shooting (2015), the shooting of the unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri (2014), the George Zimmerman trial (2013), the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting (2012), and the death of Whitney Houston. Don interviewed Rahm Emanuel on the day he accepted the position of Chief of Staff for President Barack Obama.

He serves as a trustee of Brooklyn College as well as an adjunct professor, designing and teaching the curriculum around the news media. Lemon has worked hard to achieve his position at CNN and is serious about his work, and has never been fired from a job he has held.
