Emmanuel Lewis was born on March 9, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York. Margaret Lewis, his mother worked in the computer programming field. Emmanuel had a penchant for acting from a very young age. He started his studies at public schools in Brooklyn and graduated from Midwood High School. He then got a degree in theatre arts from Atlanta University, which took him eight years to do so as he was busy getting into acting and entertainment business at the same time.

Emmanuel Lewis is a black belt in Taekwondo and he practices it on a regular basis to stay self-disciplined and fit. He has his own record label, Flex Floss Entertainment.

Career and Net Worth

Emmanuel Lewis winning the lead role on the show, Webster came as a result of hard work and years of studying the art of acting. To enter into mainstream acting, he moved to Hollywood and started off by making connections with people in the industry. A major breakthrough occurred when his mother contacted the Shuller Talent Agency for him. They found Lewis’s face to be adequate for commercials and advertising as a child. Emmanuel slowly became a recognized face across the country thanks to commercials as he appeared in a large number of them including that of Burger King. Other commercials included the “Ronald McDonald's 1982 Coloring Calendar” commercial, the “Mrs. Paul's Fish Sticks” commercial, and a “Colgate toothpaste” commercial.

The famous sitcom, Webster aired in 1983 and it ran successfully for four years. Lewis was at the pinnacle of his career and became a household name after this show. His contract was renegotiated by his agent and attorney after the first season of Webster to commit him to five more seasons and give him a share of the profits, including syndication money. Emmanuel was often mistaken for Gary Coleman not only because of the show’s similarity of Gary Coleman’s show Different Strokes but also due to his short height of 4 feet and 3 inches. The show got Lewis nominations in the Young Artist Awards for four consecutive years.

After Webster, Emmanuel could not land stable appearances on any show because he had to focus on his studies. However, he would always find time to earn cameo roles in various projects. One such film was Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star which was a space comedy film. Slowly yet gradually, Lewis started to score a few more appearances including the comedy Kickin’ it Old Skool, in the year 2007.

Emmanuel Lewis was a very close friend of Michael Jackson. He went into a state of emotional shock when he faced the fact that Michael had died. He was very much disturbed with the news and was not even in a state to comment on the news. Later, when asked to comment on his good friend, Emmanuel said: “He said I was his form of inspiration. He loved our humor and just hanging out and having fun, with not just me, but my whole family.”
