James Denton

James Denton came into this world on 20th January, 1963. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and he was raised in a small town called Goodlettsville. He was a student from Goodlettsville High School. He had completed his major in Journalism and Television from the University of Tennessee and earned a degree in Advertising prior to his entry into the film industry.

According to his biography, he used to sell advertising for a living before his entry into the film industry. His first shot with acting was at the age of twenty-three at the community theatre in Nashville. Later on, Denton moved to California in order to pursue a full time career in acting. According to his biography, Denton is believed to have acted in over 30 projects.

During the period he was settled in Chicago, Denton first acted in the role of ‘Stanley’ in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’. He has done many other roles in different theatrical plays. His most famous stint was in the play ‘The Diviners’, in which he played the part of a Kentucky preacher named ‘C.C. Showers’. This role enabled him to get a nomination for ‘Best Actor’ or the ‘Joseph Jefferson Award’, which was Chicago’s only theatre award. After he moved to Los Angeles, he continued doing more theatrical stints whenever he was free from acting in the various TV series he was a part of at that time. From the long list of movies, TV serials and plays, it is very evident that James Denton is one determined, hardworking and extremely talented actor with multi-faceted capabilities.

Denton has acted in several independent movies, whose scripts were penned by his friend Mike Petty. His first role in a movie was in the year 1993, where he portrayed the role of ‘Ray Higgs’ in the movie ‘Thieves Quartet’. In the movie ‘In Walked Monk’, written by his friend Mike Petty, Denton portrayed the role of ‘Steven’ in the year 1999. He has also appeared in many other films, short films and series like ‘Basic Football’ in 1994, ‘Hunter’s Moon’ in 1995, ‘Sliders’, ‘Dark Skies’, and ‘Moloney’ in 1996, ‘That Old Feeling’, and ‘Face/Off’ in 1997, ‘Primary Colors’ in 1998. In 2000, he appeared in ‘Locked Up Down Shorty’s’, ‘Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place’, ‘Ally McBeal’, and ‘The West Wing’. His recent stints include ‘Hot in Cleveland’ and ‘Karaoke Man’ in 2012, ‘Grace Unplugged’ in 2013, ‘Stranded in Paradise’ in 2014, and ‘Devious Maids’ in 2016. He still stars in ‘Good Witch’ as ‘Dr. Sam Radford’ since 2015.

During his years in high school, Denton dated Deana Carter, who went on to become an artist in country music. From 1997 to 2000, Denton had tied the knot with Jenna Lyn. However, their marriage ended in divorce. In the winter of 2002, he tied the knot with Erin O’Brien. The couple has two children- Sheppard and Malin O’Brien.
