Jorge Sampaoli was born in Argentina on 13 march 1960. His parents belonged to a very poor family. He started playing football at a very young age of just 6 years. He was selected by the Newell's Old Boys football club and him started applying for them until one day he suffered a blow to his leg and was deemed by the doctors to be to play any further game as it could be deadly fo him. He took retirement for the game at an age of just 19 years old. He did some part-time jobs here and there but couldn't keep his mind off of football.
His love for the game brought him back to football in 1994 when he started to coach an amateur club and made the club won the league. He was very much hated by the other teams and their fans for doing so. He was ten contract by his former team Newell's where he coached fo two more years before moving to Peru. At Peru, he didn't have the greatest of starts and he just played 8 games losing 5 of them at his first professional club.
He was then fired form his first club and he went to another club called Chiclayo in 2002. At that club, he started off with very good performances and continued it throughout the season. He stayed in Peru till 2007 managing different clubs in the process. He has a mixed career at Peru but he learned a lot and that he incorporated in his future club. In 2008 he signed with O'Higgins and made them finish third in the league. He was at this point known for his tactics and offensive football.
In 2012 he was appointed the head coach of the Chilean national team. He has brought some of the best players such as Arturo Vidal. Alexis Sanchez into the team and has taken then to the Copa America glory winning the cup in 2015 against a very strong Argentina team that included Messi, Aguero, and Higuain to name a few. He was nominated as the three best coaches in the world by FIFA along with Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola.
He resigned from the head coach position in 2016 and was later appointed as the manager of Sevilla which is a Spanish club. Sevilla is currently doing very well in the league currently sitting at 3rd position and is also doing well in te Europa league. His style of play is attacking mostly depending upon the forwards to break into an attack and punish the opponent on the counter-attack. This has gotten him many trophies throughout his career.
He is a married man and currently lives in Sevilla with his wife and children. There is not much news about his personal life.
