Michael Hussey

Michael Hussey was born as Michael Edward Killeen Hussey on 27 may 1975 in Australia. He started playing the game at a very young age of 6 years. He was born in a middle-class family and his father was a small businessman. Hussey is known to be a late bloomer as he was late to get to school. He was selected in the school cricket team after he gave some impressive performance. He was a regular in the team and helped his school team win many domestic matches before being selected in the Australia under 17 team. He was equally good for the youth team of Australia and gave impressive performances wherever he played. He was later awarded a place in the under 21 team. He played very well for them however he wasn’t selected for the Australian national team as he was through to be weak for the one day format.

He didn’t lose hope and kept on playing for the domestic team and piled on runs that made him the 8th highest scorer in the first class cricket. Tough competition in the Australian national team made him sit outside the team for a long while. He, however, continued to play well and perform for the team. He was later selected by the Australian Warriors team for which he played and made 6700 runs in total that made him one of the best players in first class cricket.

His selection in the team came late in the year 2003. He took the international cricket by storm amassing an average of above 50 in test and 48 in one-day internationals. He has been since then an integral part of the team. He won them many matched sometimes single-handedly to give Australian a much-needed win. He has been selected as the best player by ICC in the year 2006. He also has bowled some overs in international cricket. He was mostly used when the over rate required was more. He has been at the end of his career started to hit long shots and played at a very high strike rate. He was the top scorer in 2009.

After retirement, he came to India to play in the Indian Premier League and was selected by the Chennai Super Kings. He was selected by the Chennai as opener batsman. He was an integral part of the team and along with MS Dhoni, he pushed the team to their first victory in IPL. He again played well the next year which again saw them win the League. He is currently married to Amy Hussey. He has two children with his wife who currently lives in Sydney with him and his children. He is very active on social media platforms as well. He posts regularly on Instagram as well as he is active on twitter. After his retirement, he is looking after his business and sometimes does batting in charity matches.
