Background

Nicholas Edward Cave was born on September 22, 1957. He was brought up in Victoria, Australia. Cave studied art and workmanship before switching to music during the 1970s.

Career

Cavern's music is portrayed by enthusiastic force, a wide assortment of emotions, and expressive lyrics on death, religion, love and violence. As frontman of the Boys Next Door which was later renamed the Birthday Party, he turned into a focal figure in Melbourne's expanding post-punk scene.

The band moved to London in 1980 and developed towards a darker sound. They gained notoriety for being the fiercest live band in the world. The Birthday Party is viewed as a band with a noteworthy impact on gothic rock. Cave with his dark hair, baritone performing voice and pale, skinny look, was depicted in the media as the new poster boy for the genre’s unique sound.

After the separation of the Birthday Party in 1983, Cave formed Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. A great part of the band's initial material was set in a mythic American Deep South, drawing on spirituals and Delta blues, while Cave's fascination with Old Testament thoughts of good versus evil was soaked in their music.
