Roberto Mancini

Roberto Mancini was born in the year 1964. He is an Italian football manager and he was a professional player before who managed Internazionale. When he was a player, he was playing deep-lying forward and he was known for his time with Sampdoria. This is where he played over 550 matches and he helped his team to win Series A League title, European Cup Winners’ Cup and Coppa Italia. He had been capped over 36 times while playing for Italy and he took part in UEFA Euro of 1988 and in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He achieved semi-final finished in the two tournaments.

In the year 1997, he had already played for Sampdoria for 15 years and he left this club and went to join Lazio. Towards the end of his playing career, he was an assistant of Sven-Goran Erikson for Lazio.

In his tenure, he won Serie A titles 3 times, Italian Record 17 and Inter Club record where he stretched around a half season. He was the most successful manager of Inter for 30 years. Even if he had been known to win in his home, some people think that his failure to win Champions League was the main reason to be dismissed in 2008.
