Sam Billings

Sam Billings is a professional English cricketer. His batting style is a right-hand batsman who also fields in the ground as wicket-keeper. Sam has played in the format of limited over on the behalf of England Official Cricket Team. He has also appeared in the Twenty20 format of PSL of Pakistan, Indian IPL and Australia BBL. He is around 5 feet 10 inches long and his nickname is Bilbo and Billo.

Biography and Early Life

Sam was born on 15th June in the year 1991 in Pembury of Kent, England. He spent his childhood days in Northern Kent on the farm of his family where his parents lived. From an early age, he was an all-rounder sportsman and started playing tennis, racquets, squash, rugby and football. Ron Billings, grandfather of Sam was a champion of racquets while Tom Billings, his cousin is a well-known player of racquet game holding world ranking. Sam gives the credit to the game of racquets for developing his skills of batting, especially his coordination between hand and eye.

Sam gained his college education from Haileybury College of Hertfordshire and regularly appeared in the First XI Cricket during his entire career of school. He completed his degree in Exercise Science and Sport from the Loughborough University.

Early professional career

Sam played his 1st Class debut while playing against Northamptonshireon the behalf of Loughborough MCCUduring the 2011 year. Again he made his 1st class appearance in the cricket team against Leicestershire during 2011. During his 1st class 4 matches, he made 321 runs with 45.85 average, where 131 runs were his high score.

Twenty20 Leagues

During December of the year 2015 Sam was being selected by the team Islamabad United for the 2016 PSL. The match was conducted at UAE during the February of the same year. It was the first and inaugural season of the tournament. He played for 5 matches on the behalf of Islamabad United and scored total 34 runs with 26 runs being his top score. Though he claimed that during the tournament he got golden opportunity to learn from famous and experienced players like Brad Haddin which is invaluable. He was again retained by Islamabad United for the 2017 season.

During the 2016 Indian IPL, Sam was bought by the team of Delhi Daredevils in the IPL auction for a sum of 30,000 pounds. During his debut match for Delhi Daredevils, he scored around 54 runs which helped the team to win against Kolkata Knight Riders. After that, he continued to play for the next 4 matches for Delhi before it got eliminated during the closure of group stage.

Sam has been once again retained by the Delhi Daredevils for the IPL 2017 during which he will continue to play on behalf of Delhi until 01 May 2017. After that, he has to depart for England as he has a match against Ireland and then he has to prepare himself for ICC Champions 2017.

Sam is quite active on Instagram and has more than 73k followers. During March 2017, England record-breaker Alex Hales replaced Sam Billings in the final and 3rd ODI against the team of West Indies, after he recovered from his hand injury. His current net worth is unknown.
