The response quickly circulated on social media after being released by Hawley’s office. Wojnarowski issued an apology, and ESPN suspended him, later issuing its own statement distancing the network from his actions. During his suspension, many NBA players and fans expressed support with the hashtag #FreeWoj trending on Twitter.
