Harassment From Fans
Even with all of Alanna’s success, she still has to deal with the adversity of being a woman in the sports world. She is constantly harassed on Twitter and Instagram by people just because of her looks alone. Of course, she never allows this to get to her or stop her from doing what she loves.
She will quickly block the harassers and get back to replying to her true fans in the comments. Unfortunately, this seems to be a trend most women in sports have to deal with. Luckily, Alanna, being the strong woman she is, brushes it off and gets back to work.
She is aware of her natural beauty, but she does not rely on it to gain her popularity. Her intelligence and passion for baseball speak for itself. Alanna is a female role model for many young women, especially those that are more timid to join the sports industry because it is seen as a “man’s job.”
Awards
In her career, she has won five Emmys for her work. In December of 2015, she won the Latina Leadership Award from H.O.P.E. (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality). This award is presented to Latina women in California who demonstrate leadership in their respective fields.
Personal Life
In 2013, she married Justin Kole. Justin is a small time business owner. She said that her husband is very supportive of her and her career. He moved with her three times in a year to make her career feasible.
A misconception that is continuously brought up to Alanna is her relationship to Cubs’ All-Star Anthony Rizzo because of their same last name. Anytime she gets asked this question she laughs and lets people know they have no relation what so ever. However, she does embrace the fun side of it and likes to mess with her fans now and then.
When it comes to her married life, she never talks a lot about it. She never mentioned that she had a boyfriend when she was dating Justin. Justin is invisible in the media. He has never commented on how good his life is with his wife and other personal details.
She loves to travel and relax, telling the LA times her favorite cities and ways to relax “Denver, of course, but that’s a biased opinion. I love the big cities. I love New York, I love Chicago. I do actually really like Phoenix. Love San Francisco, but I don’t love the weather. I think Pittsburgh is a very underrated city and it’s one of my favorite ballparks, hands down. PNC Park is beautiful. It’s such a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the bridge, it’s gorgeous. I always joke that I’m contractually obligated to be perpetually tired because this is such a long season. To get away from it, I love good food and good wine. I’d like to say I work out to get my stress out. I do a little bit but I’m certainly not very disciplined or dedicated. I look forward to the off-season more than anything because you can appreciate the downtime and getting reacquainted with your friends and your family and your life. During the season you just don’t have that opportunity. My passion is dog rescue and dog advocacy. I’m a huge proponent of shutting down puppy mills and rescuing dogs. The whole adopt-don’t-shop campaigns, that’s where my passion lies outside of work.”
