Alpha Dia is a Senegalese model who had a career breakthrough by walking a total of 43 runways in 2017. He was first discovered at age 22 while working in a bar in Hamburg. A photographer named Christian Bendel asked to take pictures of him and his career in modeling took off from there. Since then, he has appeared as one of the major faces of Versace's AW '17 campaign and he has been covered in magazines such as Italian Vogue, Another MAN, and Kein Magazine. He first began his career in modeling with a job for Iceberg and his first show was for Prada. Not bad for just starting off in the modeling industry. Dia has quickly risen to the top and is featured in countless editorials and runway shows for some of the biggest names in the industry.
He currently calls Hamburg, Germany his home but he is rarely ever there since his career demands he travel all over the world. Dia speaks of growing up in a community where he is the only black guy and the impact that had on his self-image. He revealed in an interview that it isn't easy to develop self-confidence when everyone around him holding a different understanding of beauty.
