Andie MacDowell is an American actress who was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress-Motion Picture Drama for her role in the film Sex, Lies, and Videotape. Andie MacDowell was born in Gaffney, South Carolina and worked at McDonald’s and Pizza Hut as a teenager.
Her mother died from chronic alcoholism in 1981 when MacDowell was just twenty three. MacDowell, who began her career as a model, made her film debut in 1984 in the film Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan. In 1991 Andie MacDowell was chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. MacDowell married a fellow model, Paul Qualley, in 1986. The couple met while posing for GAP ads and had a son, Justin, and two daughters, Rainey and Sarah Margaret.
The couple divorced in 1999 and in 2001, MacDowell married her former childhood friend, Rhett Hartzog; this marriage, however, lasted less than three years. Andie MacDowell has been a spokesperson for International L’Oreal for over twenty five years and earned the title of number one female box-office draw worldwide with her performances in Four Weddings and A Funeral (1991) and Bad Girls (1994).
