Angela McGlowan was born on March 3, 1970 in Oxford, Mississippi. Her father was James Thomas McGlowan, a famous educator and minister. Racism in America always concerned McGlowan family, because Angela and her four siblings have a mixed racial background: Native American, Afro-American, Irish and Scottish. James believed in educating his children, that’s why he opened the first segregated school for Afro-Americans in 1950. Unfortunately, Angela’s dad had died when she was only 12.
After graduation from the high school, Angela went to the University of Mississippi. She studied exceptionally well – she was sure her dad always wanted her to succeed in her studies. There she earned Bachelor’s degree in public administration with an emphasis on criminal justice.
McGlowan began her carrier as a public affairs manager for Steve Wynn’s and Mirage Resorts. While working as a lobbyist for Mirage Resorts, she collaborated with American Gaming Association (AGA). Her work laid foundation to the further Mirage Resorts gaming properties such as Beau Rivage in Biloxi and Bellagio in Las Vegas. She continued to work with Mirage Resorts and created their advocacy and community outreach products for both Beau Rivage and Bellagio. Meanwhile, McGlowan became Miss District of Columbia in 1994. This position gave her much needed promotion.
At the same time McGlowan was a Director of Outreach for the Better America Foundation, which was founded by Senator Bob Dole; as a press aide for both Representative Roscoe Bartlett and Representative John Ensign. In 1996 Ensign’s reelection company, Angela worked as a publicist. Since then Angela McGlowan is called the greatest political commentator of our time.
From 1999 to 2005, Angela served as a Director of Government Affairs and Diversity Development for the Rupert Murdoch’s Corporation. McGlowan was responsible for the development and implementation within the Fox Entertainment Group. She was also a lobbyist and advocate within News Corporation to Congress for federal, legislative, and regulatory policies of corporate objectives. On April 22, 2007 Angela published her book” Bamboozled: How Americans Are Being Exploited by the Lies of Liberal Agenda”. It placed the 8th place in the Washington Post Bestseller List.
In 2010 McGlowan declared her candidacy for Congress in Mississippi’s 1st congressional district to defy Democrat Travis Childers. However, she lost primary to Republican Mississippi State Senator Alan Nunnelee. She was the first black woman to run Mississippi’s 1st congressional district. After leaving the race she stated: “We lost the battle, but won the war. A milestone was achieved for others to follow”.
Currently, she works as business and political analyst for the FOX News and FOX Business Network.
Since February 2006, Angela is married to John Venners, who is the CEO of Venners Group. John has a thirty-five-year experience of managing private and public companies. McGlowan doesn’t have children of her own, but is a step mother to the John Venners children. Angela also has $3 million dollar net worth.
The life story of Angela McGlowan can suit an inspiration to many Afro- American women, who face racial and financial difficulties.
