In theatre, Darvill achieved considerable success in the lead role of the musical Once, performing in both the West End and on Broadway. His capability as both an actor and a musician contributed to the show's popularity and acclaim. In 2016, he joined the cast of The CW's science fiction series Legends of Tomorrow, playing the time-traveling character Rip Hunter.
