In 2012, Cumberbatch lent his voice to the characters of Smaug and the Necromancer in Peter Jackson’s fantasy epic The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and its sequels. He continued his voice acting career by joining the cast of DreamWorks Animation’s Penguins of Madagascar in 2014.
